Irish / Austrian Golf Twinning Project

Greengolfball Ltd in conjunction with Austria's Golfland have introduced an ambitious golf club twinning project between our two beautiful countries.

Greengolfball Ltd in a specialist Irish Golf Tour Operator and Golfland is responsible for the promotion on Austrian Golf Clubs in the Vienna area otherwise known as Niederösterreich (see map)

We are trying to develop friendships between the two countries in Golf and have embarked upon a programme of twinning an Irish Golf Club with an Austrian Golf Club.

How it will work?

A trip will be organised initially for members of the Austrian golf club to come to Ireland to be hosted for a day at their golf course, this may involve a competition, dinner and entertainment. In short it will be a great opportunity to meet other golfers and to have some fun.

For the rest of the trip, the Austrians will be taken on a tour around various golf courses in Ireland and in particular those already involved in the twinning project.

In return, the Irish Golf Club should look to send a group of its own members to Austria in 2006 for the reciprocal visit – A similar programme of events will be set up for them in Austria.

What is the golf like in Austria?

Austria won the IAGTO award of the “Undiscovered golfing destination of the Year and is the home of some of the most dramatic scenery and the highest quality standards of both golf clubs, hotels and service.

Austria has been host to various tournaments and is hoping to get on the European Tour Schedule with its fabulous Fontana Golf Club which is currently host to Challenge Tour Event each year.

Austria hosted a European Ladies Tour event at Golfclub Föhrenwald in May 2005 which Federica Piovano won & also has a regular challenge tour event at Fontana Golf Course. It is a very progressive golf country with golf players rising by 10% - 15% each year.

Food & Drink

Austria is a gastronomic delight with many fantastic restaurants, some of the best white wine in the world and is famous also for its beer – In this respect there will be a huge amount in common with Ireland.

Travel

There are direct flights to Vienna from Dublin with Austrian Airlines and Aer Lingus but your trip will be expertly organised through Greengolfball Ltd and its Austrian partners.
