Hesketh Golf Club
Hesketh Golf Club is set among the dunes and coastal landscape of Southport, with the Ribble Estuary forming an important part of the surrounding scenery. Founded in 1885, it is Southport’s oldest golf club, with the original course developed by J.O.F. Morris before later contributions from George Lowe and James Braid shaped the modern layout.
The course has an unusual mixture of dune and flatter estuary-side holes, creating a varied rhythm throughout the round. Raised greens, fairway bunkers and natural contours reward accurate positioning, while the coastal wind can make the more exposed holes considerably more demanding. The closing stretch is particularly distinctive, with the final holes climbing through the dunes beside the clubhouse.
