Hillside Golf Club

Hillside Golf Club sits among the extensive dunes of Southport’s Golf Coast, with the course moving between flatter ground near the railway and a more dramatic inland section through tall sandhills. Founded in 1911, the layout was developed into an 18-hole course before Fred Hawtree undertook major work in the 1960s.

The outward holes provide a relatively open introduction before the course turns into the dunes, where elevated tees, narrow corridors and undulating ground create a much more dramatic character. Pine trees, sandy hollows and natural contours frame many of the holes, while firm running conditions and coastal winds reward controlled ball striking. Hillside’s championship pedigree and varied terrain make it a distinctive expression of the traditional Southport links landscape.
