Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club

Royal Lytham & St Annes lies among the dunes of the Lancashire coast, where a dense network of bunkers and natural undulations gives the course its distinctive character. Established in 1886, the present course was laid out by George Lowe before Harry Colt made significant alterations in 1919, creating the strategic framework that remains today.

Unlike many links courses, Lytham is relatively enclosed by its extensive dune system, meaning the sea is less visible during the round than at many neighbouring courses. Instead, the challenge comes from firm fairways, deep bunkers and constantly changing wind conditions. Precise driving and accurate approach play are essential, particularly when navigating the heavily protected greens. A regular host of The Open Championship, Royal Lytham provides a demanding and traditional test of links golf.
