Seaton Carew Golf Club

Seaton Carew Golf Club occupies linksland on the Durham coast near Hartlepool, where golf has been played since 1874. The original course was developed over several stages before Dr Alister MacKenzie redesigned the links in 1924, with Frank Pennink later creating four additional holes as the club expanded its playing area.

Today the club operates as a 22-hole venue with different seasonal routings, allowing the traditional Old Course and the newer holes to form alternative combinations. The low-lying coastal ground, firm turf and ever-present wind give the course a classic north-east links character, while the work of MacKenzie is evident in the strategic placement of hazards and shaping around the greens.
