Silloth on Solway Golf Club

Silloth on Solway lies on the western edge of Cumbria, where the linksland stretches beside the Solway Firth with views towards Scotland and the distant hills. The original course was laid out by David Grant in 1892 and was subsequently transformed by Willie Park Jr., with further contributions from Dr Alister MacKenzie.

The course retains several distinctive features from its early development, including blind holes, sandy wastes and natural dune contours. Firm running ground and exposed conditions place a premium on imaginative links play, while deep bunkers and sharply contoured greens create a number of memorable approach shots. The elevated ninth green and dramatic 13th are particularly characteristic of the course, which retains a wonderfully traditional and slightly adventurous feel.
