Swinley Forest Golf Club

Swinley Forest occupies a secluded stretch of heathland west of Ascot, where the course moves naturally through pine forest, heather and sandy ground. Opened in 1911, it was designed by Harry Colt, whose routing is notable for its balance of short and long holes and its exceptional collection of par threes.

The wooded setting provides a sense of enclosure throughout much of the round, while the natural contours of the heathland create a succession of subtle changes in elevation. Firm fairways, sandy waste areas and heather rough demand accurate positioning, but the course rarely relies on artificial features to create its challenge. Quiet, natural and strategically varied, Swinley Forest retains much of the character associated with Colt’s early twentieth-century heathland work.
